Reports* show that in 2019 47% of small businesses identified cyber breaches and attacks. Of those, a number had either lost files, had their website impacted, or had software or systems corrupted or damaged. The average annual cost to those that lost data was £3,650 per case, but the impact of a Cyber breach can be significantly wider when considering brand and reputational damage alongside the possibility of fines levied under GDPR.
The workshop will highlight the threats posed to small businesses and how some simple measures can reduce the likelihood and potential impact of a cyber-attack.
The presentation is based on the National Cyber Security Centre’s Small Business Guidance and covers topics such as:
- Backing-up data
- Protecting your organisation from malware
- Protecting portable devices and securing accounts
- The signs of phishing scams
Following the presentation attendees should feel confident in implementing the National Cyber Security Centre’s Small Business Actions list and know where to go to take their Cyber Security to the next level.
